While driviing along Lowell Point Road (a dirt road paralling Resurrection Bay south of Seward) my Dad stopped suddenly. When I asked why, he said he'd been watching what he thought were a couple birds, but when it went to go under it looked too big to be a duck. I thought my Dad was nuts when he started talking about a fat-butted duck. About 30 seconds later a sea otter popped above the surface - his first sighting of a sea otter in Alaska (as well as obviously mine). It would not be our last sea otter sighting however.
